Forty years in building, and a body of research carried on alongside it.

A civil engineering draughtsman, qualified in 1982, Yannick Costechareyre worked first for architects, in design offices and on major sites, then in the field within construction firms. Some fifteen years spent seeing how a project is designed, costed and built, and where it comes apart between the three.

A second thread runs from childhood: from the age of eleven he took an interest in the care of people, in what settles them and sets them right again. Self-taught, and in a personal capacity, he studied various forms of medicine over the years, from homeopathy to acupuncture, along with work on the subconscious. Then came the study of places themselves: geobiology and feng shui, two ways of reading what a place does to those who live in it, to their balance as much as to their health. Through his civil engineering studies and his years on site, the two concerns gradually converged, and the conviction took hold: a place is never neutral; it either sustains or hinders those who live in it.

In 1998 he founded Aubremont to give form to this bond between a home and those who live in it: to build and restore houses attuned both to their site and to the balance of the people living in them. For two years the house built and restored properties alongside a masonry contractor, a craftsman trained in the spirit of the compagnonnage tradition. In 2000 he opened an agency devoted to character homes and estates steeped in history: the natural extension of that standard, which became the firm’s principal trade. From the same attention came the harmonisation of places, which the house practises today.

In 2011, with his son, he designed an international property portal. The need came from the trade itself, and his fellow agents shared it: the portals of the time offered no way to reach international buyers, no tools for agencies to work together, and no means of searching for a character property by the criteria that really matter. So he set out to build the tool he would have wanted as a professional. Entrusted first to a major software development firm, recommended for the scale of the project and used to large corporate clients, then to other contractors, none of whom managed to deliver it, the project stalled; those years left a precise understanding of what a large digital project demands, and gave rise to Web Harmonie in 2016. Taken back in hand by Web Harmonie, the portal is now fully operational, serving property professionals.

In 2022 he founded the Laboratoire Conscientiel, an in-house research space devoted to exploring consciousness from lived experience, without doctrine and without claiming to master its results. It is the same question, taken further: after what connects a place to those who live in it, what connects people to one another, and to what surrounds them. The work is carried out as a group; it feeds the trade as much as the wider reflection.

He is the author of La Sageocratie, a book to be published in 2027 by a publishing house, gathering the reflection carried on alongside these forty years of practice, to which the Laboratoire’s work has contributed.
